Gilded Antler Table DecorationGilded decorations were popular with the Victorians, tucked in amongst the branches of their trees. Phyllis Clair Smith, a Glasgow based decorative artist and 2021 QEST Howdens Scholar, is influenced by the natural world. She has based her decorations on natural items found in the Cairngorms pine cones and antlers. The subjects are carved in clay before being cast in plaster. Finally, a delicate layer of gilt is applied.
